Farhana Yasmin Shawon, a Rabindra Sangeet singer based in Khulna, has reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her rented residence here Sunday (May 19).
Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad Khulna unit Vice President Advocate Mina Mizanur Rahman said Shawon died while was being taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH). The body has been kept at the morgue.
Shawon, also an assistant teacher at Dumuria Model Govt Primary School and secretary general of Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad's Dumuria unit, resided with a female friend in the Kashem Nagar residence in the city.
Shawon was involved with Sammilito Sangskritik Jote. She had separated from her husband one year back. She had no children, said Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Joint Convener Shariful Islam.
Contacted, police officials didn't make any comment over the incident immediately.
